How to use the plate calculator

Find the plates you need for your target weight without doing the math.

Calculate plates for a set

  1. During a workout, tap the weight cell for a barbell exercise and enter your target weight. Include the bar in that total.

  2. Tap Calculator beside the keyboard. You can adjust the target weight in the calculator if needed.

  3. Under Bar, choose your bar's weight. Under Plates available, select the plate sizes you have.

  4. Check the diagram and Per side list to see which plates to load on each end of the bar.

  5. Tap the Use button showing the calculated weight to update the weight cell you were editing. If it says Use closest, check the suggested weight before applying it.

If your target weight can't be loaded exactly

If Reps displays Closest load, your selected bar and plates can't make the target weight. The suggested weight may be heavier or lighter than your target. You can use that weight or change your target or equipment selections.

Turn the plate calculator on or off

The plate calculator is on by default. Open Settings and, under Workout, turn Plate Calculator on or off.
