How to track RPE

Record how difficult each set feels and compare your effort later.

How RPE works

RPE, or rate of perceived exertion, records how hard a set felt. Reps uses a 6–10 scale based on how many reps you could still do with good form.

6 RPE
4 or more reps left
8 RPE
2 reps left
10 RPE
No reps left with good form

Use half steps when your estimate falls between two values.

Track RPE in a workout

  1. Open Settings. Under Tracking & Stats, turn on RPE Tracking.

Reps Settings with RPE Tracking turned on under Tracking and Stats and no workout running.
  2. During a workout, tap the RPE cell for a set.

An active workout with Bench Press, Bent-Over Row, and Overhead Press, with a blank RPE cell highlighted for the first Bench Press set.
The RPE editor for the first Bench Press set with 8 selected, described as hard effort with two reps left.
  3. Choose a value, then tap Save RPE.

  4. After you save, the RPE stays with the workout in History and can appear under Previous the next time you use the exercise.
